Installation design for 2019, LVMH (LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE) Fashion Prize nominee, Kenneth Ize.
Installation design for fashion designer, Kenneth Ize - referencing Kenneth Ize’s brand identity, the studio engaged Kenneth’s traditional hand weavers in Lagos to create floor-to-ceiling, multi-coloured fringes as the installation’s central motif - thus amplifying the brand’s distinguishing use of fringe embellishments. Adapting to the user’s interaction, the fringe served multiple purposes - barrier, filter, ornamentation, entrance and window. Central to all the experiences, what was of chief interest to the studio was touch. To touch the fringe was to feel the ethos of the collection before even seeing it. In this way, the process of entering the installation was designed to prepare the viewer’s palate before fully experiencing the collection itself.
The installation later traveled from Paris to Copenhagen where it was translated and arranged to create a different design language and interaction.
