Listening Room, an installation developed in collaboration with Brazilian musician Rodrigo Amarante.

The work centers around a new iteration of the M2 Shelf, this time integrated with a custom speaker designed in partnership with La Boîte concept, the French HiFi company renowned for bridging acoustic innovation and craftsmanship.

Recalling the living-room furniture of his childhood home, Nifemi reimagines the shelf as a vessel for sound and memory. The piece was produced in Lagos, while the sound system was developed remotely with La Boîte concept and assembled upon arrival in Paris. Installed within a contemplative listening space – complete with modular seating pieces, the MOD001 Iki Bench Variation & Stele Variation, by Paris-based designer Thomas Morineau Barthelemy – the work invites visitors to pause, sit, and immerse themselves in Amarante’s textural soundtrack. The straightforward title, Listening Room, speaks to this intention: a place for attentive stillness, where design and music merge into a single act of presence.

The installation took place at experimental cultural center Union de la Jeunesse Internationale – housed in a historic building that once hosted the famed Tati department.
